Why Is This So Funny To Me ?

There is no longer an explanation for why I find this funny EVERY time I see it.

Sure the first time it was hilarious because of the sheer unlikeliness of it.  Who on earth would not only pretend to be the coyote, but go further and deface this poster?

Then perhaps the next time I saw it I chuckled because I noticed the picture of what one can only assume is 'Peaches' and imagined that look on it's face just before the coyote enjoyed it for dinner.

And maybe when I saw it again later I actually pictured the coyote with a smile on his face as he wrote the special note on the sign.  Or I suppose I would have laughed if I pictured the face of the person who posted the sign when they first saw the writing that was added.

But no matter the reason, I laugh out loud EVERY time I see this again.  I may very well be a horrible human being, but I think I'm okay with that.

Song Of The Day:
Laughter is a blessing.  I know there are different types of humor, but I am grateful to be able to appreciate all kinds of it.  Some people in life are missing out on simple smiles they could enjoy if they just embraced the lighter side of things, real or not.  "You're Gonna Miss This" by Trace Adkins is more of a song about enjoying life's little moments as they happen, but it applies here too.
When I am surrounded by family and friends, one of my favorite things is the laughter that comes from reliving shared experiences we previously had together.  Missing out on those funny moments the first time would leave me out of the loop when reminiscing later.

Technical Difficulties ?

Today at work, a conference call / webinar I was attending got started about 5 minutes late.  BOTH our in-office liaison and the leader of the meeting, dialed in from Ohio, felt the need to verbally blame "technical difficulties" for the delay of the start of our meeting.  That got me thinking ...
are we confusing "technical difficulties" with "technical ignorance" ?

I hear this phrase more and more often, and not just at work.  I hear it on phone calls, at fast food or other restaurants, and even at church meetings where computers or tv/video equipment is being used.

To me, technical difficulties suggests that there is something not performing correctly with whatever technological device the person is using.  This is NOT the same thing as technical ignorance, which suggests the thing not performing correctly is the USER, not the device.

I guess it just sounds better to blame an inanimate object, but if we're honest with ourselves we're not being fair to our technology with this kind of phrase.  We should just own up to our own ignorance and apologize for not having learned how to use whatever technology we're using before this moment in time.

Song Of The Day:
Of course a country song is the best to sum up my thoughts on this subject.  Trace Adkins' song "Don't Lie" is about a broken relationship, but he could just as easily be pleading for people to not be false about "technical difficulties."

Where Is Everybody ?

Last night for our church basketball game, only 5 guys showed up to play for our team.  That means no subs ... and we were playing against a team that had 12 guys come out to play.

Needless to say we did not win that game.

Oh sure, for the first half we hung with them (only down by two at the break) but it was evident very early on in the second half that we small band of brothers were exhausted.

I just don't understand.  Some weeks it seems like everyone and their brother (and their neighbor and their three friends from work) show up to play.  And other nights, we run with barely enough to field a team.  Why so random?  I guess it must be issues with commitment (typical "guy" thing!)

The song "I'm Tryin'" by Trace Adkins came to mind while we few men tried to keep up with the other team.  Sometimes, that's all you can do.  :)
