I think some people really just need to be told the absolute truth. I know the button to the left seems harsh or unnecessarily mean, but it is very true sometimes. I have literally worried about how people survive (pay bills, feed themselves, get from here to there, etc.) when they have difficulty with other, seemingly basic concepts. A few examples would include: reading and responding to emails at work; using a "smart" phone to take notes; filling out a time card sheet to get paid; and even learning how to latch a seat belt.
I know it is terribly judgmental of me, but it is with true concern for these people and their well-being, not mockery or picking on them that drives my reaction. I fear that they are actually suffering (outside of times when others are around them), with the basics of living, and that pains me. I secretly hope they are just "playing dumb" if only because it relieves me from the sad visualization that they go hungry at night because they cannot comprehend how to make a stove or microwave function.
Song Of The Day:
The song "You Oughta Know" by Alanis Morissette is a vengeful and angry tune, but the title fits with today's post because people oughta know these basic life skills and it worries me when they don't.

Who Said You're Uninvited?
This will be a cryptically short post, because I am at great risk of offending someone I love with my comments. That said, anyone can choose to be offended or not and that is actually the topic for this post.
Truth is, we've all been wronged at some point in our life. Someone has taken advantage of each one of us in some way. Whether it be as simple as a 'little white lie' or something grandiose like stealing money or criminal deception, everyone gets treated unfairly at some point.
But NO ONE can decide for you how YOU react to the situation. YOU choose for yourself how you approach future situations as a result of this lost trust ... and YOU are the one who must accept whatever consequences come from those decisions.
I do not mean for this to sound harsh, but sometimes the truth is hard to hear (or read) and accept. No one has to take away your free agency, but free agency doesn't mean you get to choose your decision AND the outcomes that follow.
Ultimately, if your choices separate you from other people, YOU have to be willing to accept that, or forgive. You cannot choose to hold a grudge and expect others to just accept that. It is wrong to judge someone for their decision to forgive another person. It is even more wrong to suggest that that person is the cause of your separation from other people ... especially if they personally invited you to join them somewhere. It is fine to decline that invitation, but you DO NOT get to play the martyr. Remember, YOU decided not to join. No one else forced that upon you.
Song Of The Day:
A few weeks ago I heard an a capella version of Alanis Morrisette's song "Uninvited" which was performed on the 2012 BOCA CD (best of college a capella) by the Rutgers University Shockwave women's choir. This youtube version from the fall of 2011 isn't quite as good as the CD version, but it still fits perfectly with this post.

Do You Wear Socks To Bed ?
This may not be the age-old question, but I think there are two types of people in this world ... those who wear socks to bed, and those who don't.
I will not say which is better, for I believe it is a matter of personal preference. But I will say that I find it odd how some people CANNOT sleep with socks on (or some people cannot sleep without socks on). The weirdest is a person who shall remain unnamed (don't try to guess because you will be wrong, I promise you) ... this individual almost never wears socks during the day. They seem to prefer life as a barefoot walk in the park ... but they have confided in me that they MUST have socks on when they go to bed! Isn't that just the tiniest bit odd? It sure seems so to me.
BTW ... I absolutely adore this individual and do not intend to embarrass them in any way. They are an awesome human being and are certainly not "odd" in any bad way.
Song Of The Day:
Alanis Morissette certainly had her share of hits back in the day. I get the feeling she is probably a non-sock sleeper, but I really have no basis for that assumption and could be 100% wrong. What I do know for sure though is that her song "Head Over Feet" is a favorite of mine. I like that she flipped the phrase head over heels on its side, if only to have better rhymes for her song.
